ACTION BY THE GENERAL MANAGER
of the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority
Establishing Restrictions to Prohibit the Use of Motorized and Non-motorized
Watercraft on Lake Dunlap, in Comal and Guadalupe Counties to Protect Public Safety
and for Removal and Marking of Tree Stumps and Other Hazards and Obstructions, or
Other Necessary or Emergency Purposes.
WHEREAS, the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority (GBRA) was created under Article XVI, Section 59 of the Texas Constitution; and
WHEREAS, one of the purposes of GBRA is the protection and development of water resources of the Guadalupe River Basin; and
WHEREAS, GBRA is the owner and operator of Lake Dunlap located in Comal and Guadalupe Counties, Texas; and
WHEREAS, Lake Dunlap has been lowered to facilitate repairs of the dam creating Lake Dunlap; and
WHEREAS, while Lake Dunlap is lowered, removal and marking of tree stumps and other hazards and obstructions located within Lake Dunlap is in the public’s interest and will enhance public safety; and
WHEREAS, recent unauthorized partial removal of stumps by others has resulted in potentially hazardous conditions, GBRA has found that it is in the interest of public safety to restrict the use of a portion of Lake Dunlap to prevent the use of motorized and non-motorized watercraft for a period of time, to allow inspection and removal and marking of tree stumps and other hazards and obstructions and to address hazardous conditions of said stumps; and
WHEREAS, GBRA is authorized under Section 31.092 of the Parks and Wildlife Code to establish restrictions on lakes operated by GBRA.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the General Manager of the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority does hereby issue these orders to restrict and prohibit the use of motorized and non-motorized watercraft on a portion of Lake Dunlap from the north end of Camp Porter Road to Lake Dunlap Dam to protect public safety and allow inspection and removal and marking of tree stumps and other hazards and obstructions or other necessary or emergency purposes.
EFFECTIVE NOON WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 21, 2011, the following restrictions apply to the above referenced restricted areas of Lake Dunlap:
1. Use of motorized and non-motorized watercraft is not allowed.
2. No jet skis or other personal watercraft are allowed.
This restriction is in place effective at noon on Wednesday, December 21, 2011, until noon on January 31, 2012, and may be extended or terminated by action of GBRA.
