Year-round Outdoor Recreation
The Coleto Creek Park and Reservoir, located midway between Victoria and Goliad, is a joint project between Coleto Creek Power and the GBRA. At normal pool elevation it covers 3,100 surface acres with 61 miles of shoreline. The main purpose of the reservoir is to serve as a cooling pond for the Coleto Creek Power coal fired power plant. The reservoir is fed through four major creeks from a 507 square mile drainage basin. The average depth is eleven feet and the reservoir maintains at a constant level.
Opened to the public in February 1981 for year-round outdoor recreation opportunities and access to the Coleto Creek Reservoir, the park consists of 190 acres, of which approximately 40 acres have been developed.
