GUADALUPE RIVER FLOW ADVISORY
Canyon Reservoir Release Adjustments
WHAT: Work on the Canyon Dam commissioned by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is expected to impact releases out of Canyon Reservoir through mid-April 2023.
WHEN: There will be multiple days over the next several months when releases from Canyon will be impacted by construction. Release alterations are expected to vary between low flow releases (55 to 95 cfs) to full shutdown of releases during daytime hours. Catch up releases will be made during evening hours to minimize streamflow disruptions.
Release impacts will be heavily dependent on the USACE construction timeline. We will share more information about the timing of these impacts as the construction schedule progresses.
MORE: Canyon Reservoir was built and financed through a partnership between the
USACE and GBRA. The Dam and Reservoir are owned and maintained by the
Federal Government – which also owns the rights to the flood control portion of
the reservoir (from elevation 909 up to 943 feet mean sea level). GBRA owns the
right to the conservation storage portion of the Reservoir (the water stored at
elevation 909 msl or below).
