The Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority (GBRA) adopted a revised Drought Contingency Plan (DCP) in May 2023 for wholesale customers of Canyon Reservoir in order to safeguard the water supply for the communities it serves.
With Canyon Reservoir elevation below 885’ msl, GBRA has initiated Stage 3 severe water shortage conditions for wholesale raw water customers. Without additional inflow or rain, Canyon’s elevation is expected to continue to decline.
The goal of Stage 3 is to achieve a voluntary 15% reduction in comparison to the average monthly usage for this time period of the calendar year, and to request wholesale customers initiate measures to reduce non-essential use. As part of the DCP, we will continue to update our wholesale raw water customers of drought stage conditions on a weekly basis.
Impacted wholesale customers will continue to receive direct notification from GBRA prior to the initiation of the next drought stage. View the 2024 adopted drought contingency plan.
As a reminder, Stage 3 drought restrictions will remain in effect until Canyon Reservoir returns to an elevation greater than 885 MSL for a period of 30 consecutive days.
